![]() In terms of old school Castlevania, I think it's definitely one of the best parts. Otherwise an absolute top game, I claim if it had been released on the SNES the game would have enjoyed a much higher "reputation" in retrospect. It would be preferable to concentrate the franchise in/around a castle. ![]() It is also questionable whether the locations should have been distributed across Europe. The only downside is the short playing time: The only 6 stages can be completed in less than 2 hours on the second run. In addition, especially towards the end, it's also difficult again, so nothing is missing. I also think the enemy design and the boss fights are more successful than in part IV. more successful/balanced that you can only whip diagonally in the jump, that was maybe a bit too much in part IV and in a certain respect OP. The level design is also convincing for me. In addition, great varied platforming as well as successful combat. Everything is significantly more agile and no longer seems so retracted and stiff. As far as the pure gameplay is concerned, for me it is even significantly better than the 4 previous main parts of the franchise. 3h 20m PlayedI'm positively surprised by the title.
